Born and raised in northeast Philadelphia, Senator Jimmy Dillon is a results driven, strategic thinker who utilizes the core value of teamwork as his motivator to establish productive relationships and yield positive outcomes.   

From an early age, Senator Dillon strived to make a positive impact on his community. He is a graduate of Our Lady of Calvary and Holy Ghost Preparatory School and the University of Notre Dame, where he was a standout point guard for the Irish basketball team. Following his graduation from Notre Dame, he played professional basketball in Europe. While his basketball career took him all over the world, northeast Philadelphia has always been his home. He brought the lessons learned during his playing career back to his hometown as a mentor and coach to countless student athletes.  

No stranger to hard work and dedication, Senator Dillon most recently worked as a grant compliance monitor for the School District of Philadelphia, while growing his own small business, the acclaimed Hoops 24/7 Basketball Academy. From its launch with 50 kids in one gym in 2007 to more than 500 kids in over 27 gyms in the region, his business is a real success story both professionally and personally. At home, Senator Dillon is the father of two daughters, Reese and Aubrey.

​Senator Dillon prides himself on being an unwavering voice for his community and a team player in every sense of the word. He understands the values of listening and consensus building to get things done. As State Senator for the 5th District, he plans to dedicate himself as a voice for students and educators, working people and law enforcement.
